Samsung is bringing lots of great budget smartphones to Nepal these days. So in this process, they launched the new Samsung Galaxy J1 Nxt Prime just after launching the new J5 Prime and J7 Prime just a few weeks back. Those are J5 and J7 but this is the most basic J1 series model. Actually, previous Galaxy J1 models are among the most popular budget segment smartphones in Nepal and India. The original Galaxy J1 Nxt came a few months ago but Samsung has again launched an updated Samsung J1 Nxt Prime edition.
Samsung is actually populating the lower-end affordable smartphone segments so that people get options. Thus the price of J1 Nxt Prime is also in the affordable range. The Samsung Galaxy J1 Nxt Price in Nepal is Rs 8,390. If we look at the specs, it is a new generation phone with the latest software and features. As the phone sits in starting budget range, the specs are good as expected. There are a few improvements over its predecessor which we shall discuss below.

Design and Build
Samsung Galaxy J1 Nxt Prime has a plastic body with dimensions of 121.6 X 63.1 X 10.8 mm and 126 g weight. On the front, it has a small screen that is surrounded by black margins and bezels. The screen margins actually just extend to the top but not to the bottom. Therefore the touch navigational buttons lie at the bottom but the color is the phone’s color. So if your phone is Gold color, the screen margin, foreheard and bezel are black but the chin with navigational buttons is gold.

The body of the phone is small with well-rounded corners. The volume rockers are on the left side, the power button is on the right and the headphone jack is at the top. On the back side, there is a camera, LED flash, and speaker at the top then Samsung branding sits at the center. The removable back is textured and provides a solid grip.
Internal Hardware
Samsung Galaxy J1 Nxt Prime is running with a Spreadtrum 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage, and 128 GB memory card support. We suggest our readers and people who are planning to buy a new phone buy smartphones with a minimum of 1 GB RAM and 8 GB storage. Please don’t go below this because these days apps will demand higher specifications. 4GB storage isn’t sufficient and 512 MB RAM isn’t enough too.
Galaxy J1 Nxt Prime features a 1500 mAh battery which can handle the phone for a day. For the operating system, Samsung Galaxy J1 Nxt Prime is running with the new updated TouchWiz UI on Android 6.0. It also comes loaded with new and highly demanded features such as S Bike mode, Ultra Power Saving Mode, and Data Saving Mode. These basic features make the phone quite useful.

We really like the data and power saver options in Samsung phones. We have used them since they first came in the Galaxy A and E series. They save a huge amount of energy to lengthen the battery life during emergencies and travel.
Screen and Cameras
This new iteration of Samsung Galaxy J1 Nxt Prime holds a 4” TFT screen with a resolution of 480X800. This is a small and entry-level screen which is decent for the price. Just like the entry-level screen, J1 Nxt Prime also has a very basic VGA camera at the front for selfies. At the back of the phone, there is a 5-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture which takes decent photos and 720p HD videos. Most of the phones in this range can do HD only so it is very acceptable.
Conclusion
The front camera is just VGA resolution so it isn’t quite remarkable. Actually, users need to have a good 5 MP camera at the front to take good selfies and have quality video chat. However as the budget is limited, VGA is what we get. By the way, are satisfied with the rear 5 MP camera and its quality. Our next big concern is about the battery. The 1500 mAh battery can only last you about 1 day with medium usage. Standby time with minimal use can be up to 2-3 days. But if you use the phone heavily small size can be an issue.
Except for these contents, all other things are good for this price considering the quality of commitment that comes from the brand. Samsung Galaxy J1 Nxt Prime is a 2016 device with new software and updates. There are all the required basic hardware, functionalities, and services. So it is a good option for a small budget. If you are a new buyer, this phone can be a decent starting tool.
