The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is the biggest and the most expensive phone from the company but that is not a device for everyone. Many people prefer small devices and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is the perfect fit for them. As a matter of fact, the Galaxy Flip series sells far more than fold. So Samsung has focused on it and made prices in the reachable range for flagships. This is why Flip is around $1000 which is near to the price of every other flagship device from competitors. So this year also Samsung has launched the new Flip. We also attended the Galaxy Flip 5 launch and we have some things to share.
Samsung launched its Galaxy Z Flip 5 together with Galaxy Fold 5 in the global Unpacked Event a few weeks ago. Samsung Nepal has also been swift in the launch of these devices. So Samsung Nepal launched the Galaxy Z Flip 5 on 13th August 2023. I attended the launch event to experience what Flip 5 had to offer compared to its predecessor. Design
The smartphone industry has seen many transformations in recent years, and Samsung has been at the forefront of this transition with its folding phone. Almost no company has come close to such a long history of foldable. Samsung is in its 5th generation and is perfecting the foldable devices each year. Soon there may be a day when most of us may use foldable instead of the current glass slab smartphone. Who knows what the future holds?
Now let us focus on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5. This device has the same 187 grams weight, 85.1 mm x 71.9 mm x 15.1 mm folded dimension, and 165.1 mm x 71.9 mm x 6.9 mm unfolded dimension. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a beautiful and compact form factor, making it fashionable and fits snuggly on the palm. Compared to the previous predecessor, Z Flip 5 has Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the outer 3.4 inches display whereas the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Flip 4 had 1.3 inches front screen. The 3.4 inches front screen is the biggest till now in the Flip series.
Just like the Z Fold 5, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 also has a new thinner, and better “Flex Hinge”. This is one of the most important advancements in the Z Flip 5’s design. With the new hinge, the phone shuts or folds completely flat without a visible gap, whereas in the older folds there used to be a significant gap due to the thickness of the hinge.
Core Internal Hardware
Dimension wise the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is the same as Z Flip 4 but internal specs wise it is different. The first thing Flip 5 brings to the table is Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 which is better compared to last-gen Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. After that, the phone has new UFS 4.0 storage which is faster. On top of that the base model is 256 GB instead of 128 GB. So you can get more storage at the base price. In the case of memory, the RAM is the same 8 GB and there is no higher option.
The Flip 5 comes with a 3700 mAh battery which is actually great for a device that folds in half. For charging Samsung has provided 25W fast charging support and 4.5W reverse wireless charge support.

Display
The design of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has advanced significantly, with a prominent highlight being the introduction of the game-changing “Flex Window.” This display tech transforms increases usefulness by making the cover screen 3.4 inches. It is a very big upgrade compared to its predecessors who had only a 1.9-inch front screen. This means more content is seen at the front and more work can be done easily without opening the phone.
This upgrade has a more engaging and functional interface with a full QWERTY keyboard for fast messaging, as well as a selection of clockfaces, gestures, and widgets. While its UI remains relatively limited to certain widgets like calendar and weather, the wider space provides a more immersive view of critical information. The screen also integrates with select native apps such as YouTube and Maps for improving usability. The Flex Window or the front screen is a Super AMOLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate and a pixel density of 306 PPI and can up to 1650 nits at peak brightness.
Camera
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5’s camera performance actually has been consistent with its predecessor. There hasn’t been much change or let’s say the specifications have remained constant. While the camera sensors and specifications have remained constant, the quality is still as it should be in a flagship smartphone. Moreover, the software improvements have added a few improvements to the camera performance.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes with a dual camera set at the unfolded back or say folded front. There are two 12 MP cameras with different purposes. The first camera has f/1.8 aperture and is a normal wide-angle camera with PDAF and OIS. Another camera has f/2.2 apertures and is the ultrawide camera. As this is a small phone there isn’t a third camera but it would be nice to have a telephoto or zoom camera. On the inside where there is a flexible display, there is a 10 MP selfie camera inside a hole punch.
The Z Flip 5 produces crisp and well-exposed photographs with its primary dual-camera arrangement at the back. There are additions like “Nightography,” which allows for 4K/60fps video capture in low-light circumstances. This is pretty great for travelers and people who live the nightlife. For video, the backside supports a maximum of 4K at 60fps, 1080p at 240fps, and 720p at 960fps. If you want an 8K recording we suggest you pick the Galaxy S23 series or Galaxy Z Fold series.
The new big Flex Window feature on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 adds a new level to smartphone photography. Users may now examine, and record photographs and movies more easily with the enlarged cover screen. This is especially made easy with the new Flex Mode panel. The greater space improves composition, helps better orientation, and contributes to a more immersive experience. Beyond its photography skills, the incorporation of the Flex Window into the camera interface demonstrates Samsung’s dedication to merging style and functionality.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Price in Nepal, Availability, and Pre-Booking
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 price in Nepal is Rs 1,39,999 for the 256 GB variant. This is the only variant available in Nepal at the time of the launch. This price is close to the $999.99 price tag of the USA. If we add the USD to NPR conversion, import cost, VAT, customs, and profits then it is a reasonable price. The phone is available for purchase through almost all offline and online stores.
Pre-Booking: More reason to take this deal as a reasonable deal is the addition of pre-booking gifts. Samsung Nepal always provides high-value gifts to its pre-booking customers. These are limited and always have really good benefits. The pre-booking of Galaxy Z Flip 5 in Nepal is open from 7th August 2023 to 30th August 2023. Customers can easily preorder the Galaxy Z Fold 5 Series from Samsung Plaza, and official retail outlets.
Pre-Booking Offers: If you have seen the primary reviews, and you want to upgrade to the latest Galaxy Flip 5 then Samsung has a few things to offer for those early birds. These are the pre-order gifts as decided by the company.
- 24″ Essential S3 Monitor for the addition of Rs. 5,000
- Galaxy Tab A7 Lite LTE (3/32GB) for Rs. 2,000
So if you want a Galaxy Tab at cheap or a monitor then this is the best offer anyone can offer. After pre-booking ends, the phone price remains the same but the option to get a tablet at Rs 2000 never comes. These deals are almost impossible to find in foreign too. Even if we sell the Tab or Monitor we can recover a big chunk of the phones’s price. How sweet is that?
Breakage Insurance and Exchange
It has been a long practice that Samsung Nepal provides insurance for free to its customers. While other countries charge extra, Samsung Nepal gives it for free. So just like in previous years, Samsung Nepal is providing one-year breakage insurance on Flip 5 for one year. This is in partnership with NLG Insurance Company Limited. There is also a 1-time protection film replacement offer because the internal screen cant be protected with tempered glass.
If you want to trade in your old phone and get the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 then IMS already has ArkoStore on their Samsung stores which provides easy second-hand mobile exchange offers. You can give your old phone for a reasonable valuation and add some money to get the new Flip 5.
0% EMI without a Credit Card
If you want to purchase this smartphone in installment then Samsung also has 0% EMI service. That is also without any credit card. Almost all companies want customers to have credit cards but that is a huge hassle. Samsung Nepal has worked with Hulas Fin Serve to provide 0% interest rate EMI facility that starts at Rs 7,000 per month.
