Just a few weeks back, Vivo Nepal launched the Vivo V15 Pro in a big launch event. They said they will be launching the regular V15 soon. Now the company has launched the Vivo V15 in the Nepali market. There are a few differences between pro and regular variant. The main one is the in-display fingerprint scanner. Both have a popular pop-up camera and big screen at the front. The Vivo V15 Pro price in Nepal is Rs 45,190. There are some cuts but the price difference is significant to make it matter.
If we compare the price of both Vivo V15, there is almost a difference of Rs 10,000 which is a big thing. In the regular V15, there is Helio processor instead of Snapdragon. The main difference is in screen technology and under display fingerprint scanner. These are the main features that are helping to save some cost. As we told earlier in our V15 Pro full review, users are paying a premium for cutting edge technology. In the case of V15, they can get a phone with the same good looks a bit changed specs.
Vivo is using IPS LCD in this phone and they have placed fingerprint scanner at back. By all means, the screen looks very good. The memory and storage are also in good shape with 6 GB RAM. Just like the Snapdragon version, V15 is using AI power with help of Helio P70 chipset. The specs are a bit different than V15 pro which give this smartphone different level of power.
Vivo V15 Specifications and analysis
- 6.53″ IPS LCD panel with 1080×2340 screen resolution
- Helio P70 octa-core chipset
- 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage
- 256 GB SD maximum card support capacity
- 4000 mAh battery
- 12 MP +8 MP + 5 MP Triple cameras at back
- 32 MP f/2.0 Selfie camera on a pop-up module
In the Vivo V15, there is a bit bigger screen at 6.53″ instead of 6.39″. The technology is also different because in the Pro there is Super AMOLED while this is IPS LCD. This is the reason there is no in-display fingerprint scanner. The scanner is at the back side just like other regular phones. By the way, there is a fairly larger battery which is rated at 4000 mAh.
If we have a look at MediaTek Helio P70, there are two quad-core sets inside the 8 core chip. One is 2.1 GHz Cortex A73 while another is 2 GHz Cortex A53. This is quite a balanced CPU than other processors which have hexacore and dual-core set. This chipset is also having AI accelerator and Vivo is using it in camera and other software parts.
Furthermore, there is a difference in camera as well. Vivo flaunts its 48 MP camera in V15 Pro but in case of V15 there is just 12 MP f/1.8 main camera instead of that. Other cameras such as ultra-wide 8 MP f/2.2 and 5 MP f/2.4 depth sensing module are the same. As a matter of fact, the 48 MP is the result of pixel binning and the real sensor is just 12 MP. One difference in video recording is that Vivo V15 can record videos at 1920×1080 resolution.
Impressions
Vivo V15 is giving absolutely good looking big display with no notch which is great to gaze. It has a mid-range set of hardware, camera, and features. Power is in the middle-level tier so the performance is likewise. If we ought to compare this phone with expensive V15 Pro, there are some trimmings. We do get a pop-up selfie camera, big screen, and battery which is very good. There is a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner which is easy to use and if the front in-display scanner is not what you want, it is absolutely fine.
The camera is also very good as there are beneficial sensors such as ultrawide sensor and depth sensor. There is just 12 MP camera which is not as good as the 48 MP camera in V15 pro but it is decent. Vivo is using good software improvement features. In the front camera side, there is the same camera. This is good for all selfie lovers. Vivo’s software can be a bit aggressive in beauty and AI but it can be controlled to get a more natural look. It all lies in personal preference. In our view, Vivo V15 is a better value phone because it is cheaper and gives all the required features and if you also want V15 Pro level features but want to save some money then, go for V15.
