This phone is coming to Nepal early compared to many countries, including India. Cool 6 is a new mid range smartphone with a new design, hardware, camera setup, and software. Coolpad is back in the market after 2 years of break, and there are few changes. The new distributor is SD International Pvt. Ltd., and they will be looking into pricing and marketing. Previously Jaima Intercontinental was the official distributor. This means we could see new models regularly now. Coolpad Cool 6 is the successor of Cool 5, and it features many changes. The new phone is completely different, and it features all the new generation hardware. This is a smartphone with mid-range hardware. On the front side, there is a big 6.53″ LCD screen with no notches. The selfie camera is on the pop-up module. Therefore the front look is very clean and fresh. There is no notch, and there is a very thin bezel all around. On the inside, there is an Helio P70 processor, 6 GB RAM, and 128 GB storage. This is a standard hardware set of this time. The Helio P70 comes with CorePilot 4.0 technology, which helps to manage power, hardware, and resources. This is a chip that can also do some mid level gaming.
For power, Coolpad Cool 6 has a 4000 mAh battery. The company website says that it can be used for 2 days in normal usage. They also state that the 4G standby time is 120 hours. Similarly, they also state that gaming or internet browsing battery life is 12 hours. This is a bold claim, and it actually depends on a lot of factors. For example, these things depend on WiFi, 4G signal strength, network location, games, application, ambient temperature, phone temperature, and more.
Cameras
Coolpad Cool 6 comes with triple AI cameras at the backside. The first one is a 48 MP wide angle sensor, then there is a 2 MP depth-sensing camera and a 2 MP macro camera. Both 2 MP macro and depth modules have f.2.4 aperture. The setup has modes such as Pro, UHD, Portrait, Night mode, and intelligent scanning. In this triple-camera setup, we get a depth sensor, which gives a good bokeh effect. Next is the macro sensor for close up shots. This is good, but an ultrawide camera is much more useful to normal users. We hope that Coolpad and other manufacturers focus on better ultrawide while having multiple cameras.
There is no camera on the front side because there is a pop-up module at the top with a 21 MP sensor. This selfie sensor can take high-resolution photos at videos at 1920×1080 resolution. The pop-up camera module helps to achieve the no-bezel look. It is actually a pretty nice looking design. Many people like this system, but the industry adoption is quite low. However, we get this in Cool 6 at this price range.
Features and Impression
The Cool 6 has a USB Type C, fingerprint scanner, and Android 10 OS. This is a new phone, so it should get Android 11 in the future. The Coolpad Cool 6 price in Nepal is Rs 26,499, which is near to MRP INR 16,999 quoted in Indian stores. However, we also found deals at INR 12,999 INR, so that is a bit confusing. In terms of look, Cool 6 is a nice looking smartphone. The all-screen look, no notch, and thin bezels give a very beautiful finish. For hardware, there is Helio P70, 6 GB RAM, and 4000 mAh battery is a nice mid-range hardware combination. The camera on the back is not that exciting because some competitions provide a better option. Ultrawide camera and 4K recording capability would have been better at this price point. However, this is a restart for Coolpad after a long break, so we hope that they will soon but even better devices in the Nepali market.
