Chaudhary Group (CG) is a leading conglomerate with a huge presence in Nepal. CG Corp Global is a big conglomerate and has factories in other counties as well. CG is a global brand well-known for Wai Wai noodles. They actually have a good name in a large number of businesses. This includes FMCG, snacks, electronics, real estate, hospitality, and many more. CG has been launching many mobiles or budget phones in Nepal for the past few years but they all were bar phones. This time the company has CG EON eLite smartphone in the upper budget category.

Build and Design
In the first impression, CG EON eLite looks nice because of the simple rectangular design and light shade color. Handling the phone is very easy due to the slim 5.8 mm thickness, metal body frame, lightweight, and solid grip. The phone has Gorilla Glass on both sides which is another very good thing. Chaudhary Group CG EON eLite seems to be inspired by the iPhone’s design and interface a bit. This means the design and build of EON eLite are impressive and look premium.
There is a LED flashlight at the front for night selfies which is impressive for a budget phone. The best thing about the smartphone is the new very sleek design which is there due to its 5.8mm thickness and that is really amazing.
Internal Hardware
Let’s start with the most important thing on the phone which is the processor. CG EON eLite has a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor. This chipset comes embedded with Mali 400 GPU. The processor works with 2 GB DDR3 RAM and 16 GB internal storage. The storage is only 16 GB and there is no external SD card support. In the case of the battery, CG is providing a 2100 mAh non-removable battery. On the software side, EON eLite is using Android 5.0 Lollipop with Burn UI on top.
Looks are important but it isn’t enough to justify the demand for hard-earned money and price. A phone should have both looks and functionality. Specification-wise, the first thing about the hardware is the quad-core processor and Mali 400 GPU. The processor is mediocre but the Mali 400 GPU isn’t powerful enough for hardcore gaming. Price-wise the value is missing by a bit in CG EON eLite.
One of the most important features that strike is no external SD card expansion option. 16 GB storage is not enough for many people. Many people also did not buy the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 because of the lack of SD card support. On top of all these, there is a non-removable battery. This looks like a compromise for the thinness of the device but this seems to be the direction where the industry is headed.
Display and Camera
CG EON eLite has a 5″ Super AMOLED screen with 720p HD resolution that gives crispy picture production. OLED screens are always nicer and it’s good to see AMOLED panel in CG’s smartphone. On the front side, there is a 5 MP selfie camera with an LED flash. This helps to take photos and videos in low light as well as at night.
On the backside of the phone, there is a 13 MP camera with HDR and LED flash. In the EON eLite, both sides have LED flash which is a good thing for shutterbugs. The back camera is capable of recording 720p videos but in our testing time, we couldn’t find resolution settings for video.
Verdict and Recommendation
CG EON eLite definitely packs a lot and has a lot to consider. First of all, the size, thickness, design, and build are definitely attractive. It has Gorilla Glass, a thin body, and good looks. For color options, it can be found in light shade colors of white, gray, and silver. The UI of CG also has no lag and comes with many features. The phone comes with a Super AMOLED screen which is undoubtedly the best feature of this phone.
In the case of the camera versus price, the phone challenges competition products like Samsung Galaxy J5. The Galaxy J5 also comes around the same price range and has similar features. Cameras are basically the same with 13 MP but the aperture on the J5 is f/1.9 which is a bit better. Samsung Galaxy J5 isn’t comparable to CG Eon in terms of design and build but J5 has a removable battery and SD card.
The CG EON eElite price in Nepal is Rs 21,999. This phone is exclusively available in CG showrooms only at the first stage. Considering the price range, design, look, feel, interface, and performance the EON eLite is good and satisfies the need of people with average demands. It would have been better if there was memory card support. This is CG’s first step in smartphones and maybe they will improve this and make even better phones in the future.
