Oppo has many smartphones and they have different lineups for them. The popular lineups are A series and F series. Oppo Nepal is now launching their top tier R series phones with R17 Pro. From this smartphone, the company is stepping into flagship competition of Nepal. They were just playing in mid range before this. The Oppo R17 price in Nepal is Rs 89,990 at launch. It is a upper range smartphone and has lots of interesting features.
Starting with design of this smartphone, we can see 6.4″ screen with waterdrop notch at top. The all screen look and gradient color looks pretty good too.There is mid range chipset, improved camera and big battery. The R17 Pro is Oppo’s mobile with three cameras at the back. Before jumping into the impression, lets have a look at the specs first.

We can see a mixed setup in this phone. Oppo R17 pro has a very new 10 nm Snapdragon 710 chipset which is mid range. It has high frequency dual core and low frequency hexa core processor to complete an octa-core chip. The SD 710 comes with new AI Engine, X15 LET modem and Bluetooth 5.0. It is a new and fast processor but it is not very powerful. For the price that Oppo is charging, people should get at least Snapdragon 845.
Screen is 6.4 inch AMOLED which has very high resolution so display should be very sharp. It is protected by latest Gorilla Glass 6 which makes it even better. The notch is also pretty small considering the waterdrop design. In terms of memory and storage there is 8 GB in top model and 128 GB storage. These are enough for any system and on top there is 256 GB SD card support as well.

Features and Impression
One of the most interesting aspect is camera. Main camera of Oppo R17 Pro is 12 MP sensor with variable aperture of f/1.5-f/2.4. It adjusts automatically according to lighting and situation. The front side also has very high resolution selfie camera which is sufficient for high resolution pictures. Rear side primary camera setup can easily record videos at 2160p at 30 FPS. With the OIS and AI power of the SD 710, Oppo has managed to provide good set of result.
R17 Pro has USB Type-C and supports NFC, OTG and fast charging. There is SuperVOOC flash charging which provides 10V at 5 Amperes for 50W output. Oppo is also packing under display fingerprint scanner with this phone which is very interesting. Oppo R17 pro looks like a very capable smartphone with new processor, good camera ans lots of interesting feature.
Considering the pricing of Oppo R17 Pro in Nepal, it is hard to recommend because there is now flagship level processor. Other things are pretty much fine but the processor is very weak and other competitors are providing better value at less price. The pricing pretty disappointing and sways us away from supporting it.
