Samsung is rapidly expanding its Galaxy J family. They already have lots of phones in this series. Now they have the new Samsung Galaxy J7 Max. The J series gets revised each year with new improvements. So, this time, Samsung Nepal has launched the new J7 Max in the market. This phone actually came after Galaxy J7 2017. The current Samsung Galaxy J7 Max price in Nepal is Rs 28,290. It is a mid-range smartphone with the DNA of the J series.
Looking at the price, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Max now sits in the mid-range category instead of the upper budget range. Since the start of the series, we have seen an upward trend of price increases in phones. Galaxy J series actually used to be upper-budget range phones but these days price of new revised models is always increasing. Actually, the price isn’t the only thing that’s increased because specs have also increased. Design and Build
Samsung Galaxy J7 Max has a big footprint with a 5.7″ screen, metal body back, 156.7 x 78.8 x 8.1 mm dimension, and 179g weight. It has a design that looks similar to the older Galaxy J7 from 2016 and 2015. However, the back is different as there is an LED flash, a Samsung logo, and a main camera with a ring light around it. This ring LED light glows in different colors to give notifications. This ‘Smart Glow’ feature was actually introduced with Galaxy J2 Pro.
The front side has a big screen, a home button with a fingerprint scanner, a selfie camera, an earpiece, and sensors. The left side of the J7 Max has volume buttons, SIM card slots, and an SD card slot. Similarly, the right side has a power button and speaker slot. At the bottom, there is an earphone jack and USB port while the top side has a microphone.
Core Internal Hardware
The Samsung Galaxy J7 Max comes with lots of upgraded hardware this time. Below the hood, we get a 2.4 GHz Octa-core processor on the Mediatek Helio P20 chipset. On the GPU side, we have Mali T880MP2 power up the graphics. Interesting hardware is actually RAM because there is 4 GB RAM in Galaxy J7 Max. 4 GB RAM is enough for demanding games, multitasking, multi-window tasks, and a lot more.

The internal storage is also 32 GB with SD card support up to 256 GB. These days Samsung is providing large SD card support which is a really good thing. The whole phone is powered by a non-removable 3300 mAh battery. 3300 mAh battery paired with new OS, UI, localized features, and power saving modes provide good battery life. For software, Samsung Galaxy J7 Max runs with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. For biometric security, there is a fingerprint scanner cum home button at the front. This is very useful for all the digital security needs.
Display and Cameras
Samsung Galaxy J7 Max boasts a 5.7” PLS LCD display with full HD 1080x1920p resolution in a thin metal chassis. This PLS LCD is a short form called Plane to Line Switching Liquid crystal display. Samsung is a leader in AMOLED but they chose PLS LCD on this one which is not ideal. They have been using AMOLED in cheaper phones so expensive phones like J7 Max should have had Super AMOLED.
This new Galaxy J7 Max has a 13-megapixel camera at both the front and back. The main difference is in aperture size. At the back, there is 13 MP camera with an f/1.7 aperture while at the front there is an f/1.9 aperture. The new 13 MP camera f/1.7 can take great low-light pictures, 1080p videos, and high-res images. Selfies are also clear, crisp, and detailed. So the camera department of J7 Max is quite well made.

Summing Up
Samsung Galaxy J7 Max supports dual SIM and 4G. It can’t take both 4G SIMs simultaneously so only one 3G and 4G is possible. Overall, this is a very good phone for multi-taskers, mid-tier gamers, and content consumers. Thanks to the higher 4 GB RAM, larger storage, and faster processor, it performs well. In the initial impression, the J7 Max is a good choice but if you are not satisfied with this, Samsung is coming with the new Galaxy J 2017 series which includes Galaxy J7 Pro.
As we said we are supporters of AMOLED and we would have actually loved to see Super AMOLED in such a good phone like the Samsung Galaxy J7 Max. Samsung’s specialty is camera and display and their SAMOLED is an industry-leading good. The next thing is, that many people prefer the Snapdragon chipset or Exynos chipset on their phones. So next time inclusion of Enynos or Snapdragon processor and AMOLED could be really good to make overall winner smartphone in mid-range.
