Gionee X1 is the new phone in the new X series of the company. The company launched its new model Gionee X1 in Nepal exclusively. So Nepal is one of the first countries to have this smartphone. Gionee A1, A1 Lite, and A1 Plus were also launched as a new series a few months ago. This Chinese company is taking a very good market share of Nepal at a faster rate. Their phone quality is also improving with each release. The current Gionee X1 price in Nepal is Rs 13,999. So it is a budget-range smartphone.
The Gionee X1 is a budget smartphone that sits in the very competitive range. We ask our readers and people we know. Similarly many companies and brands also talk with us during press meets. The companies say that people may talk and ask about expensive phones but when it comes to buying, the majority of people in Nepal and India will buy budget phones. So people do like expensive flagship smartphones but due to the budget, people buy budget and mid-range phones. So, we also suggest companies focus on budget phones because that is where the market is.

Design and Build
Gionee X1 has a normal-looking design with a faux metal texture at the back. The back is removable which covers the removable battery, SIM card, and SD card slot. It has a sleek build with the front side having the screen, earpiece, selfie camera, sensors and touch capacitive navigation buttons. Then at the back, there is a camera, speaker slot, and fingerprint scanner. The right side of the phone has a power button and a volume button. On the bottom, there is a USB port and microphone. The USB port is not at the center which is quite bizarre as we are all accustomed to symmetry.
Core Internal Hardware
On the inside, Gionee X1 is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor, 2 GB RAM, and 16 GB storage. This is very normal for an entry-level smartphone. Actually, according to some reviews, this phone handles normal use and even light multitasking with ease. The X1 has a removable 3000 mAh battery which can easily power the device for 1 day and even 2 days with normal use. So this phone is quite balanced with its specs and battery.
The new X1 has a good build quality and design for the price. It comes with fingerprint scanner which is also a nice feature. It has dual SIM support with 4G VoLTE as well. Many phones available in Nepal have VoLTE but operators are not providing VoLTE. Our current 4G is only serving data over the spectrum not voice.

Display and Cameras
Gionee X1 has a 5.0-inch IPS LCD screen with 720×1280 resolution. As X1 is a budget device it is understandable about the use of LCD and HD resolution. Gionee including other mobile phone manufacturers is now hugely focusing on ‘Selfies’ these days. It is now becoming the biggest selling and advertising point.
So Gionee X1 is also one of the selfie-focused phones for price-oriented and budget-constrained customers. The X1 has 8 MP cameras on both the front and back. The front selfie camera is 8 MP with f/2.4 aperture. Furthermore, there is a front LED flash too. This camera can take 1080p videos and detailed good selfies in daylight.
Similarly, the back camera is also 8 MP with f/2.2 aperture. This camera can also record 1920x1080p FHD videos. However, as it has a comparatively larger aperture, it can take better pictures. The day photos are good and detailed but the low-light photos are just usable. This is also normal for low megapixels such as aperture.
Summing Up
The pixel count of both cameras are same but the aperture is different. Both sides are equipped with LED flash for darkness which shows that Gionee is committed to photography. As the aperture sizes of the phone are a bit low, X1 can suffer in low light without flash. But this is understandable because it is a budget-range phone. Most manufacturers don’t even have a front-facing flash, at least this phone has that.
If we assess the device, we are getting a quad-core processor on a Mediatek chipset paired with 2 GB RAM. So we can expect the phone to handle moderate tasks quite well. Gionee X1 is built for light to medium tasks and light gaming. So it can be a good phone for normal and daily use. One good thing we like is the support of SD cards up to 256 GB which is very good. But most people don’t use that much. However, having power is always useful. Overall the X1 is a good phone and it is a good option at this budget.
