Design and Build
Vivo Y53s comes with a trendy look and shiny design. It has a dimension of 75.4 x 164 mm and 8.38mm thickness. The phone has rounded corners, a curved back, dazzling color, and a reflective back that gives fashionable aesthetics. Y53s has a tall body with a big screen at the front and a waterdrop notch at the top. The forehead is small so the earpiece is between the frame and screen. On the backside, there is a rectangular camera island with three cameras and an LED flash. At the top, there is a SIM card and SD card tray with a noise-canceling microphone. Similarly, on the bottom side, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port, and speaker grill. The right side of the phone has the volume rocker and power button with a fingerprint scanner.
Core Internal
Inside the Vivo Y53s, there is an Helio G80 octa-core processor with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage. The Helio G80 is a popular chipset that can be found in many budget phones these days. It is a decent chip that can do every task with ease, provide power for entertainment and do light gaming. There are also technologies such as MediaTek HyperEngine Game Technology and MediaTek NeuroPilot. However, Y53s is priced in the mid-range price category and Helio G80 is not a good fit here.
Y53s is using 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM with a 3 GB extended RAM feature. It is a new feature in Vivo smartphones where the system uses 3 GB of internal storage like RAM. The extended memory helps to keep more apps and tabs open for work.
The Vivo Y53s has a 5000 mAh battery to power its internals and screen. There is also support for 18 W charging which comes from 9V and 2 Amps from the charger. Vivo website states that the Y53s can charge up to 70% in 66 minutes. and can provide 14.3 hours of online HD movie streaming power.

Display and Cameras
The front side of Vivo Y53s has a 6.58″ IPS LCD screen with 1080×2408 FHD+ resolution. Sometimes manufacturers cut costs by having less resolution on the big screen but Vivo is providing appropriate resolution in this large panel. The screen has a waterdrop notch at the top which houses the 16 MP front selfie camera. It has an f/2.0 aperture and it supports 1920x1080p video recording at 30 fps. There are features such as night mode, selfie aura screen light, and eye autofocus.
The backside of the Y53s has three cameras. First of all, there is a 64 MP camera with f/1.79 aperture and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). Then there is a 2 MP F/2.4 macro camera and a 2 MP depth-sensing camera for bokeh effects. There is Ultra Stable Video mode which utilizes EIS and other software algorithms to reduce shaky motion in videos. There are few modes in the camera app such as Portrait, Panorama, Live Photo, Slow-Motion, Pro, DOC, and AI 64MP. It is sometimes better to learn Pro mode and get granular control of the camera to get better images. Therefore we really like the phones with Pro mode that has deeper controls.
Vivo is charging about $300 on Y53s and they are just providing a triple camera setup without an ultrawide camera. This is quite unacceptable because ultrawide is necessary. The company could have replaced the depth sensor with a wide-angle camera and made a better offering.
