Daraz and IME Pay are leading tech companies in Nepal. These two have now tied up for helping the customers. Daraz is an eCommerce giant in Nepal owned by Alibaba. Similarly, IME Pay is a fintech company that provides services such as online payment and mobile wallets. However, IME Pay has some physical hubs and they have partnered with Daraz to provide drop-off service. The IME Pay hubs can be used as Daraz drop off locations to return products. This is to help customers return the goods easily. Sometimes people send their goods back due to different issues and reasons.

Online shopping volume is increasing in Nepal and alongside it, other incidents are also growing. This includes problems or returns and refunds. These are quite common in online shopping because there are multiple reasons for returns. People sometimes return items when they don’t like the specifications. For example, a customer may want a different color, fit, size, specifications, etc after ordering. Sometimes the product might be wrong or faulty. In such cases, people need to return the product for further processing. Usually, a customer places a return order, and the delivery partner picks it up. In the case of Daraz, the DEX rider comes to pick up and sends for processing. Now customers can just drop the products directly at Daraz approved return drop-off points.

How to return product on Daraz Nepal at Drop Off Locations

Daraz actually provides product returning or drop-off locations service at multiple places. They usually do this at their stations which are listed on their website. Now, the company is partnering with IME Pay. Daraz customers can now return their problematic and unsatisfied products at the select locations. People can drop off the products directly at IME Pay hubs for sending them back. Customers can also go through the traditional pickup process as well. However, here is the step-by-step process to return products on Daraz Nepal at drop-off locations.

  1. Initiate return request from Daraz app. Go to Daraz Mobile App, then go to Account > View All > Return/Refund on the product that you want to return.
  2. Pack the item in the original packaging with all the warranty card, invoice, accessories, and other ietms.
  3. Write tracking number and order number clearly on the package or the outer box.
  4. Find the nearest Daraz approved drop off locations.
  5. Submit the product to the front desk operator at the location.
  6. Follow the further instructions from operator to proceed.

Daraz is providing this additional service to help people manage the return process according to time. There are already many Daraz hubs in Nepal and this time company has added few IME hubs as well. They believe that this can help in bringing more people into the digital shopping platforms. In the normal process, an agent comes home for the pickup but it is not possible for everyone to be available at all times. Therefore busy people can just drop the item at hubs for return and carry on with their work.

Product Return and Refund in Nepal

Online shopping is new in Nepal and people are integrating it into their lives. It is quite different from traditional shopping. People can’t feel and test the product at the time of browsing. Therefore the only time to really check a product is after purchase. So, there might be many things that can make a customer return it. It happens in physical shopping as well. We try and test different samples or models while browsing and then finalize. However, in the case of online shopping, we see models online and order. Sometimes a product may not fit or look as it might look on a model online. It might be a bit different or simply a customer may have changed their mind. In the worst-case scenario, the product may be wrong, faulty, or even fake. So, a customer is within full rights to request for a return and exchange.

As the number of online shoppers is increasing, these kinds of cases are also increasing. Therefore Daraz needs more delivery agents and pickup agents for providing service to customers. The company has made a positive approach by adding physical stations for customers to return the products. We request everyone to read the policy in eCommerce sites before making a purchase for easier dealing in the future.
