Vivo Y33s has been launched in the Nepali market. It is a mid-range smartphone and it is from the popular Y series. The phone has come after a few days of rumor. We actually got the news of Y33s launching in the Nepali market about a week before launch. Together with this phone, Vivo also launched its new Vivo V23 5G and Vivo Y01 in Nepal. V23 5G comes with a color-changing backglass and other attractive features.
Most smartphone companies launch their mobiles in Nepal within a small time frame. However, there can be a lapse of about three months. Nepali market gets new phones within a maximum of three months after the global launch. However, in the case of Vivo Y33s, it is eight months. Only the company knows why the Nepal launch has been so late and only the market will tell if people will adopt this older model.

Design and Build
Vivo Y33s has a dimension of 164.3 x 76.1 x 8 mm and 182g weight. It is quite a thin phone with just 8 mm thickness. The back is flat and the side rail has a stepped chamfer. On the front, there is a screen with a waterdrop notch at the top. The right side of the phone has the volume rocker and power button with a fingerprint scanner, and the top side has a secondary microphone and a dedicated SIM card slot for 2 nano SIMs and one micro SD card. Finally, at the bottom, there is the speaker grill, USB Type-C, and headphone jack.
Internal Hardware: Processor, RAM, Battery
Under the glamourous design, Vivo Y33s packs an Helio G80 processor and Mali-G52 GPU. It is paired with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. Vivo is using a 4 GB Extended RAM feature by utilizing storage as memory to support 8 GB RAM. Helio G80 came in 2020 and it would have been good in 2021 when it launched. But this is 2022 and the phones from competitors have better processors at this price tag. In the case of the battery, Y33s has a 5000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging. The company is also using Vivo Energy Guardian (VEG) for safety and power management.
Cameras and Display
Vivo Y33s has a 6.58″ IPS LCD screen with FHD+ 1080×2408 resolution. The panel has a 96% NTSC color gamut and a 90.6% screen-to-body ratio. There is a notch at the top which houses a 16 MP front camera. It helps in the face unlock feature along with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Y33s has a standard big size screen and FHD+ resolution which is good. However, it is falling short in front of competitors due to a lack of high refresh rate, or any screen protection. It could have been better to have those things because people look for such features these days.
On the rear side of Vivo Y33s, there is a rectangular camera island with three cameras and an LED flash. The Y33s has a main 50 MP wide-angle camera, 2 MP macro, and 2 MP depth camera. The maximum video recording capacity is 1920x1080p at 30 which provides better stabilization for shaky shots. Moreover, there are features such as Face Beauty for Videos and Smart Editing.
Keeping aside these things, there are small 2 MP cameras for depth and macro features. Quantitatively they check the box but qualitatively, a good ultrawide angle camera could have been better. Smartphone companies should always have ultrawide as the second priority and then the priority should be zoom or telephoto.
