Samsung Nepal launched Galaxy J7 Prime 2 in Nepal at the Samsung Forum 2018. This phone came to Nepal very early compared to previous launches. It is new 2018 revision of last year’s predecessor. The price of Galaxy J7 Prime 2 in Nepal is Rs 28,990 at the launch time. It is very similar to the previous Galaxy J7 Prime. J7 series phones are now stepping in mid range segment these days.
There are lots of variants of Samsung Galaxy J7 and this is a new addition to the series. The company always revises their popular series and this phone is their 2018 revision. For start the design is similar to last years models. Even the specs are almost hundred percent similar.
Galaxy J7 Prime 2 comes with a 5.5” TFT display at 1080×1920 resolution. At top there is Gorilla Glass 4 protection which is nice. It features a metallic build with 3300 mAh battery at back. New J7 Prime 2 works with Exynos 7870 SOC, 1.6 GHz Octa Core processor, 3 GB RAM and Mali-T830 MP1 GPU. The Nepali market is being served with 32 GB storage model. The phones does support dual SIM and SD card up to 256 GB at max.
Last years model came with Android 6.0 but this year it comes with Android 7.0. This time both back and front camera are 13 MP at f/1.9. Front camera is now upgraded this year. This means the result from front camera are much better. They both can record only 1080p videos. The resolution of photos are same for both back and front cameras which means great stills from both cameras.
The fingerprint sensor is at the front home button just as usual. There aren’t new or extra features or sensors this time. It is same as old prime. Comparing last year and this years J7 Prime 2, we see almost no difference at all. In our view, at this price range Galaxy J7 Pro still provides best value. If you are using older J7 Prime, this is not a remarkable upgrade. But if you want to buy J7 Prime and not Pro then surely buying a newer one makes sense.
Samsung is now working to bring better phones at range of 30-45K. This is because market is shifting to that price range. We will surely see more better phones than current generation mid range phones from Samsung next year.
