Vivo has stepped into Nepal with their new mid range phone in market. Vivo V7 was launched in an event at Yak and Yeti. Y53 and Y65 were on sale before official announcement in market. Vivo V7 is a mid range phone which costs Rs 29,990 at launch. The company is governed by parent company BBK Electronics.
Basically Oppo is also under same BBK electronics. We can see how both companies have common target users. They mostly target selfie loving users. Most of their ads always focus on Selfie, camera and music. We have seen this in India and Nepal widely. We are very happy on arrival of new company.
More company means more offers to customers and more options. This is good because people get a lot of choice for their budget. Each company has its own unique specialty. They have special features and attraction towards them. Hardware like 24 MP front camera is one of the best example.
Vivo V7 Specifications
The new Vivo V7 comes with 5.7” IPS LCD screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. Screen resolution is 720×1440, which is newer taller ratio. This gives longer form factor but helps reduce bezels. Inside we get Snapdragon 450 SOC with 1.8 GHz octa core processor. SD 450 is quite equivalent to Snapdragon 625 which means we get good performance.
Memory side, we get 4 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. It also supports external SD card up to 256 GB. It has a metal body with fingerprint sensor at back. Also a 3000 mAh battery is sealed inside. On camera side, front camera is 24 MP f/2.0 sensor and back camera is just 16 MP f/2.0. We can clearly see, front is better than back camera.
Many people take photos from back camera. Smartphones have literally replaced click and shoot digital camera. We expect back cameras to be better at mid range. 16 MP is actually good enough for taking high resolution pictures and full HD videos. Crown jewel is really the front camera with higher pixel count. It can take far better pictures than back camera. Also people get great results with better software processing. Both cameras can shoot at 1080p resolution easily.
As a latest mid range phone, we do get good sets of sensors. This includes, compass, face unlock, accelerometer and gyroscope. It is currently running Android 7.1 with Funtouch UI on top. Android Oreo update is coming very soon for Vivo V7 users.
Impression and Suggestions
Vivo V7 packs pretty good hardware. The performance from provided hardware and software is to the mark. With 4 GB RAM and octa core processor, multitasking is smooth. For selfie lovers, the high pixel count camera and software, it is a great choice.
The main thing comes for normal users. People who want everything balanced and don’t focus on selfie. Many of us tech enthusiasts are interested in best value and performance and not on special one feature. At this price range, there are several competitors. Oppo F5, Huwawei Nova 2i and Xiaomi Mi A1. Priorities of people differ widely, so do choose your new phone with care. Overall, in our view Vivo V7 is a good phone for selfie lovers.
