A few days ago we got the rumor about the launch of a new Colors phone in the market and now finally have the launch. The rumored Colors Pearl Black phone is the new Colors Pearl Black K3. This phone has been unveiled at the Colors Tech Meet 2015. The K3 is a new addition to the famous Pearl Black series of the company. This new smartphone has some interesting features to create a buzz. It can be a contender as a good value phone due to the price and specs. The Colors Pearl Black K3 price in Nepal is Rs 20,995. It is much cheaper than we expected and the specs are also a bit different than expected.
Before the launch, we expected this new Pearl Black phone to have an octa-core processor and some very high-end hardware. It doesn’t fulfill that but it surely brings a lot to the table. Pearl Black K3 is a phone at the Rs 20,000 mark and there are many interesting features. There is a quad-core processor, protective glass on top, there is a big battery, a 13 MP back camera, and an 8 MP front camera. Overall there are a lot of things that create interest because it is a budget phone in the end.

Design
Let’s talk about the design first. No matter what anyone says, it matters because people do use phones as fashion statements. So in regards to looks and design, Colors Pearl Black K3 looks amazing. It has classy color, glossy design, and metal side rails. The body is CNC-crafted for better quality and solid build. At the front there is the screen, at the bottom, there are touch navigation buttons and at the top forehead, there are sensors, an earpiece, and a front camera.
This phone is available in white and black color options which are quite popular options. The whole body is very light and covered by enhanced Asahi glass on both sides. Asahi Dragontrail Glass provides protection from scratches and falls.
Internal Hardware
The design looks lovely and the phone is also quite slim. Under all that glamour, the Pearl Black K3 packs a MediaTek chip with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz. It is paired with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. This is a very generous internal storage amount. The amount of RAM is the most amazing part. Most budget-oriented phones don’t have such an amount of RAM but this phone does. Colors is delivering such a big memory on a tight budget and it is great. For storage, there is also support for external SD cards up to 64 GB.

Colors K3 comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and according to the company, the Marshmallow update may come in the next three months. Regular updates will be provided via OTA according to the company. For power, there is a 2350 mAh battery with normal charging. It is a normal battery size and it can allow users to enjoy the phone with all types of usage for a whole day. Colors Pearl Black K3 also supports 4G and 3G. So if the telecom operators upgrade the network to 4G, the device is fully ready.
Display and Cameras
Colors Pearl Black K3 comes with a standard 5 inches IPS LCD screen. It has 1280x720p resolution and Asahi Dragontrail glass protection on top. This is similar to Gorilla Glass but from a different company. Asahi is a Japanese manufacturer and they are quite popular in the home market. For the camera, there is a 13-megapixel primary camera with an f/2.2 aperture on the backside of the phone. On the front side, there is an 8-megapixel camera with an aperture of f/2.2. Both of these cameras can record videos in full HD or 1920×1080 at 30 fps and also produce high-resolution images.
Impressions and Analysis
Colors has done a lot of trimming to make the phone available in this price range. Therefore everything is not up to expectation but that doesn’t mean this is a bad phone. Actually, it is a good phone for the price. In the tech meet, we learned that the company wants to cover the whole Nepali market. Their aim is to provide smartphones to all types of people and gain coverage in rural areas. So they will make affordable phones with some attractive features to gain balance.
Pearl Black K3 has 4 cores processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, and a 2350 mAh battery which is quite good. However, in our initial test during launch, the camera wasn’t touching the expectation of tech reviewers even when the pixel counts are high. The 13 MP camera produces high-resolution images but details and sharpness were slightly off-point. This might be improved in a future software update but we are not sure.

If the phone had an octa-core processor it would have totally made a match with the RAM. But still, we are satisfied with the processor and memory configuration. We really liked the use of protective glass and metal body. Moreover, we can’t ask to get top hardware at such a price range as well.
Colors Pearl Black K3 is a good value phone for the price and it delivers a lot. We just expect the camera to be a bit better only. Other than that, we recommend this phone. The company is also partnering with SastoDeal to sell this in the market. They are giving a free JBL Bluetooth speaker with each purchase.
