Samsung just released a new smartphone with its Tizen operating system. Tizen is a Linux-based mobile OS that is primarily developed by Samsung. The company has launched the new Samsung Z1 in the Nepalese market with Tizen OS. This phone came after 5 months of international release. The phone is a special one because it is not like ordinary Samsung Galaxy phones. It doesn’t have Android so it will be a new experience for the users. Samsung also uses Tizen OS in its smart Samsung Televisions. According to the company, it will be different and the company claims it has an easy fast interface.
The new Samsung Z1 has been made public today in Nepal. It is an entry-level affordable phone with low-range specifications and basic hardware. It just touches the bare minimum specification to be a smartphone in 2015. This means it has very basic hardware to survive. Z series phones are very different than Samsung’s Galaxy J series, E series, and A series of phones. However, the phone is interesting because of its newer OS. It is not any special version of Android. This is fully Samsung-developed software based on Linux.

Internal Hardware, Screen, and Camera
Samsung Z1 is a basic smartphone and it just has a Spreadtrum SC7727S dual-core processor with 768 MB RAM. The processor is only dual-core which is not recommended in 2015. 768 MB is a very less amount of memory and it should have been at least 1 GB. In terms of the battery, there is a 1500 mAh battery. According to the company’s website, it can provide up to eight hours of talk time on a good 3G network.
On the front side, there is a 4″ screen with 480×800 resolution and a VGA camera. The main camera at back uses a 3.15 Megapixel sensor. All this hardware makes up for a very basic device. It is for people who need a smartphone to do calling. The only new thing here is the Tizen OS.
It looks like this new operating system can run on lower-end hardware well. Samsung has future plans for the ecosystem. However, the thing that can drive potential customers away is its software support for apps. The operating system is new and many people don’t know about it. People haven’t used it much and it has a smaller user base internationally. Therefore it is certainly true that people of the general category won’t risk their investments. People are now immersed in Android and many people will surely be reluctant to get a phone in a totally different environment.

Tizen OS and Usability
This new operating system is developed by Samsung and they want to expand it. As we can see here, they are now putting it in a smartphone. However, we can see that they are not taking big risks with an expensive budget and mid-range smartphones. They are testing here with a cheap entry-level phone. This seems like they are testing the market first. Well, to be honest, this is their new software and most people don’t have experience with it.
There is no big app store, there aren’t many developers and experts out there. Android is old and many people are experts in it. There is a huge user base and there are many forums to get help as well for Android. We can’t say that new software is bad because we have to see how it performs in the future. If Samsung is pushing this, it means they have big plans and determinations. They are already shipping phones with apps loaded because people can’t find outside and sideload them.
Samsung Z1 Price in Nepal and Availability
This phone has been launched in the Nepali market. It is available in the White and Black color in the market. The Samsung Z1 price in Nepal is Rs 7,490 which is roughly $70. Tizen and Samsung Z1 are new for smartphone users and there is much to explore. Therefore for average users who are going to invest their saved money in a smartphone, we recommend buying other Samsung phones like Galaxy J1 instead of this.
