Honor 8A and Honor 20 Lite have been now launched in Nepal. The 8A is budget segment phone while 20 Lite is the mid-range phone. Both of these phones came to the international market a few months ago. However, they are now available in the Nepali market. The Honor 20 Lite Price in Nepal is Rs 32,500 for 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant. The Honor 8A price in Nepal is Rs 15,790. Honor is a sub-brand of Huawei but the distributors are different.
The trade war between China and USA has made a lot of tensions and Huawei is in the middle of it. We were in a press meeting with the company and we have published the Huawei Nepal’s explanation about this issue. Honor Nepal hasn’t said anything about this but there is an uncertainty of future software updates. Huawei has been developing its own OS and they are going to roll it out soon and it may be the case for Honor as well. Whatever the case may be, let us have a look at these new phones.

Honor 20 Lite Specs and Analysis
- 6.21″ IPS LCD Screen with water drop notch
- 1080×2340 FHD+ Resolution
- Kirin 710 SoC
- 4 GB RAM
- 128 Onboard storage
- 3400 mAh lithium polymer battery with 10W fast charging
- 32 Megapixel f/2.0 front camera
- 24 Megapixel f/1.8, 8 Megapixel f/2.2 and 2 Megapixel f/2.4 back cameras
The Kirin 710 chipset has an octa core processor with 2.2 GHz and 1.7 GHz 4 core sets. There is 4 GB RAM which is standard for any phone these days. But the storage is 128 GB which is better than the normal 64 GB configuration we see in most phones. The battery is at the mid-side here but there is fast charge support. The front selfie camera has a high pixel count sensor. In terms of back camera, it has covered all aspect. There is a main 24 MP sensor, an ultrawide 8 MP sensor, and 2 MP depth sensing module.
Addition of ultrawide sensor in the new phones has been one of the best things. It just makes photography a lot better. In this Honor 20 Lite, the maximum video recording resolution of both cameras is 1920×1080. This phone has a fingerprint sensor on the back and still uses micro USB 2.0. For a phone of this price, the biometric scanner is good but we hope they upgrade to USB Type C from now on.
Honor 8A Specs and Analysis
- 6.09″ LCD Screen (720×1560 resolution)
- Mediatek Helio P35 Chipset
- 3 GB RAM
- 32 GB Internal Storage
- 3020 mAh battery
- 8 Megapixel f/2.0 front-facing camera
- 13 Megapixel f/1.8 Rear side camera
The Helio P35 is also octa core chip with 2.3 GHz and 1.8 GHz quad cores. It is an entry-level phone and the chipset is also of the same level. The memory and storage are of adequate size and that is good. Honor 8A also has a big screen with HD+ resolution which is good to have. These days companies provide big screens at all price range. Preference of people has changed a lot.
In terms of battery, there is 3020 mAh. It is not a power hungry phone with very powerful hardware but we could have loved to see a bit bigger battery. However, there is a good set of cameras on both sides. The 13 MP sensor at back has an f/1.8 aperture which is pretty good for a phone of this segment.
Overview and Closure
The company has launched different types of phones in a different market segment. If we look at the Honor 20 Lite Price in Nepal, it is priced decently. We can’t say aggressively because there are lots of other offers from competing companies. But if we look at the specs of this Lite, it is a bit similar to the Huawei P30 Lite. The camera is a bit different though. In case of the Honor 8A, we see that it is also well built in terms of internal hardware. We have to admit that it has some missing features but there are other bases covered.
Overall, these are pretty decent phones from the company. These phones came a bit late but better late than never. The addition to the market is always good because people get option and Honor fans really love that. For now, let us hope that Honor also finds a solution to the Android update issue that lies above the parent company’s head.
