Vivo has launched a new Y series phone in the budget range. It is the new Vivo Y21 and it is the successor of the old Vivo Y20. The new successor has come to the market after a year. This new budget smartphone or the Y21 comes with an Helio P35 processor, dual cameras, an IPS LCD screen, and a big battery. The company is trying to attract young customers with its design actually. Design and Build
The Vivo Y21 has a slim and normal looking design. It has a dimension of 164.3 x 76.1 mm and 8 mm thickness. Y21 is actually 0.4mm thinner and 10g lighter than its predecessor. On the front side of the phone, there is a big 6.51″ screen with a waterdrop notch at the top. On top of the screen, the earpiece resides between the frame and the display panel. At the backside of the Vivo Y21, there is a dazzling design and a rectangular camera island. On the right side of the frame, there is the volume rocker and power button with an embedded fingerprint scanner. Similarly, on the bottom side, there is a speaker grill, USB Type C port, and headphone jack.

Internal Hardware
Vivo has packed the Y21 with Mediatek Helio P35 chipset and 4 GB RAM. The Helio P35 is an SoC that came in 2018 so it is not the latest chip. Vivo could have used a better processor from new generation chipsets that are out in the market. In the case of storage, there are two variants, one is 64 GB and one is 128 GB. Both storage variants have the same 4 GB RAM. At budget 4 GB RAM is market standard. Also in order to overcome RAM demand, Vivo has an extended RAM feature. In this feature, Vivo Y21 can take 1 GB from storage and use that as RAM for memory purposes. Additional or extended RAM feature can provide power to run more apps in the background. For battery, the Y21 has a 5000 mAh battery with 18W charging.

Display and Cameras
Vivo Y21 features a 6.51″ IPS LCD screen with 720×1600 resolution that provides an 89% screen-body ratio. The screen is the same as it was in the predecessor Y20. On the front screen, there is a notch at the top with an 8 MP selfie camera and f/2.0 aperture. The selfie camera can take videos at a maximum resolution of 1920×1080 ta 30 fps. Similarly, on the backside, there are two cameras. The first one is a 13 MP f/2.2 main camera and the second one is a 2 MP f/2.2 macro camera. This back camera setup of Y21 is only capable of recording videos at 1080p at 30 fps. If we compare this to the Y20, it is a downgrade because there are only two cameras on Y21 and there is no ultrawide camera as well.

The Y21 has been launched in the Nepali market. Vivo Y51 is available in retail offline stores, showrooms, and online markets for purchase. The phone is available in two color options which are Metallic Blue and Diamond Glow. The Vivo Y21 price in Nepal is Rs 22,999 for the 4/64 GB model. In the overall assessment from the specifications and pricing, Y21 is expensive for the price and there could have been better features on this.
