Samsung announced the Galaxy A22 as the new successor in the A lineup. There are two network variants of this smartphone and Samsung Nepal has launched the Galaxy A22 (4G) in the market. This is a mid-range phone with a 90 Hz AMOLED screen and OIS. Most companies like Samsung don’t have OIS in their smartphones except for flagship. However, the A22 is breaking this trend and bringing a very important camera feature to the table. The Samsung Galaxy A22 is a combination of different levels of hardware, so let us get into the details of it.
Each year the Galaxy A series sees a plethora of changes. Most of them are good because many features from flagship phones seep down to the mid-range. For example, the Galaxy A22 4G edition has a 48 MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a 90 Hz AMOLED screen. There is a 5G model as well but that is quite different. Galaxy A22 5G has a different processor, camera setup, and dimensions. We can say that 5G and 4G models are different smartphones.

Core Internals
On the inside, Samsung Galaxy A22 (4G) has a Mediatek Helio G80 octa-core processor which comes with a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. There are two variants according to storage and memory. The first variant comes with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage while another model comes with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. Samsung Nepal is starting with the later 6/128 GB model in the market. There is also the option for adding a memory card up to 1 TB. For the power, there is a 5000 mAh battery with fast charge support. The battery is standard size and it can power the device for a day in normal use. According to the company website, Galaxy A22 can support 29 hours of video playback and 24 hours of internet usage on the LTE network.
Galaxy A22 5G comes with MediaTek MT6833 Dimensity 700 5G processor and Mali-G57 MC2 GPU which is quite faster. In other words, the Density 700 5G is powerful than Helio G80. In other comparisons, Helio G80 can provide performance near to Snapdragon 675. The Mediatek Helio G80 has features such as MediaTek HyperEngine Game Technology, CorePilot, Pump Express, and more to bring out additional performance for apps and games.
Display and Cameras
Samsung Galaxy A22 has a 6.4″ Super AMOLED screen with 720×1600 resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate. The company is now pushing high refresh rates to mid-range as well. This is a good and much-needed feature in new generation smartphones. The screen has an Infinity-U notch at the top with a 13 MP front-facing camera.
On the rear side, there is a square camera island with 4 camera modules. Firstly, there is a 48 MP main sensor with OIS. It is important because optical image stabilization is very rare in phones of this price range. Secondly, there is an 8 MP ultrawide camera with a 123˚field of view. Thirdly, there is 2 MP depth-sensing modules, and a 2 MP macro camera. The rear camera setup can only record 1920×1080 FHD videos at 30 fps. This is a letdown because past mid-range phones have supported 1080p 60 fps and 4K video recording. However, it is a tradeoff because there is OIS and many phones don’t have that. FHD resolution is still pretty standard and stabilized footage is better than just high-resolution footage.
Image stabilization helps to get good stills and videos when hands are shaky or the user is in motion. In addition, stabilization also helps to take better low-light images because at night the camera needs to be steady while taking available light to the sensor. This is a thing that needs in-depth review.
Samsung Galaxy A22 Price in Nepal and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy A22 price in Nepal is Rs 27,999 for the 6/128 GB model. It is available all across Nepal through offline stores and online platforms in Black, Mint, White, and Violet color options. The Galaxy A22 5G model may also come soon in the Nepali market. In comparison, the Galaxy M32 has the same processor, memory, storage, screen size, and refresh rate. On top of that, the price is similar and the Galaxy M32 also offers FHD+ resolution, a bigger battery, and faster charging. But there is no IOS in the primary 64 MP camera. Therefore we recommend Galaxy M32 for normal people but if you really need OIS then pick the A22.
