Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 Price in Nepal

Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 Price in Nepal

Jyoti Group launched two models of Obi Worldphones in Nepal in the 1st phase. At first, the company launched Obi Worldphone SF1 and now the company has launched Obi Worldphone SJ1.5. This new Obi SJ1.5 is another budget range smartphone with a brilliant set of features. It has a design just as classy as the Obi SF1 and the price is also in a reasonable range to justify the hardware. In this article, we are discussing the price, specs, features, and impressions of Obi Worldphone SJ1.5.

Obi Nepal is targeting the budget market with its new phones. All of their current mobiles are in the budget price segment only. So they are offering the best hardware possible for the lowest prices. The official Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 price in Nepal is Rs 14,799. This makes it a lot cheaper than the big brother Obi SF1. However, the specification or hardware differences are also huge between these. So let us start with the specs of the SJ1.5.

Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 Specifications

Design and Build

Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 offers a fascinating combination of hardware looks and design. It has a plastic body with a big screen, a flat top, and curved bottom. The new curved bottom comes with vibrant color options and that makes it unique plus attractive.

At the front, there is the LCD screen that provides decent real estate. Then at back there is a camera at the top and a speaker at the bottom. On the top side of the phone, there is the headphone jack, on the right side there is a volume rocker with the power button and at the bottom, there is a USB port. The design of the phone is ergonomic and the whole thing feels pretty solid.

Internal Hardware: Processor, Memory, Battery

Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 is powered by a Mediatek MT6580 chipset with a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, Mali 400 GPU, and 1 GB RAM. It comes with 16 GB of internal storage and micro SD support for up to 32 GB. This is a budget or entry-level device so it is good and it seems that the company wants to balance a lot of things.

However, it would have been nice to see a Snapdragon processor and 64 GB memory card support. We understand that providing in-built storage is expensive. So in that case, external storage is a must-have. For the topic of power, there is a 3000 mAh battery on the inside. It is standard size and most phones in this price range have similar batteries.

The back cover is removable, which protects the two SIM card slots and SD card slots as well. Unlike SF1 there is no hybrid SIM slot. SJ1.5 supports two SIM cards and a memory card at the same time. Amazingly this phone also has a gyroscope, so Google cardboard and VR can be enjoyed. Most entry-level phones don’t come with a gyroscope, so SJ1.5 has a benefit in that case. Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 supports 3G but doesn’t support 4G network. So that is a part where you may need to be careful before making a purchase decision.

Display and Cameras

On the front, Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 has a 5-inch LCD screen with 720p HD resolution and 294 PPI pixel density. It also has an oleophobic coating on the front screen to prevent smudges and small scratches. The 720p screen is beautiful and it produces crispy, bright images. Gaming and multitasking are also satisfactory as they should be. The screen is visible under direct sunlight and pixel density is also decent. However, there is slight pixelation when we look really hard during bright movie scenes.

Just above the screen, there is also a 5 MP camera that is enough for video chat, selfies, and 3G video calls. Similarly, on the backside of the smartphone, there is an 8 MP camera that can take 1080p videos and crispy photos high-resolution photos at 3264×2448. This is a very standard camera setup for mobile at this price.

Conclusion

The battery life of Obi SJ 1.5 is fantastic and better than Obi SF1. Therefore battery size is not a big issue. We used this device but we loved to use the phone with the Android UI or new launchers instead of Obi’s own UI. The UI can be changed from settings. Obi should really focus on its UI and change it to make it lag-free.

Overall Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 is a nice phone that you can buy in the budget range. It is an all-rounder in every section. The SJ1.5 beats a lot of phones in the market in terms of hardware, design, and performance. Obi phones have the capability to take a good market share if they come with more products. They are covering the market in the budget range but they still have to cover the mid-range and basic entry range.
