Nepal Telecom and Cybernetics have launched a new NT Bus Internet service. It is brand-new technology for tour and travel business. Bus, micro, and travel services can use Nepal Telecom NT Bus Internet to provide internet to passengers. This is based on CDMA technology which has broader coverage. It works on major highways and rural places in Nepal with NTC CDMA coverage. In the past, buses used to have WiMax for internet which is based on Microwave. But NTC is widening the coverage using CDMA.
Currently, many public vehicles have Nepal Telecom WiMax service. Public buses on long routes and cities provide free WiFi to passengers using WiMax technology. However, the WiMax coverage is weaker compared to GSM and CDMA. In reality, CDMA has wider coverage in rural areas in Nepal. Therefore Nepal Telecom has a new NT Bus Internet service using CDMA spectrum. It uses the CDMA or Code-division multiple access spectrum to have connectivity. Thus, the internet can be used in all places with CDMA coverage.
