Xiaomi Nepal has now added the new Redmi S2 in Nepali market. It has come very soon to market because it launched just month ago globally. The Redmi S2 is a mid range phone with emphasis on selfie camera. Xiaomi Redmi S2 price in Nepal is Rs 26,999 at launch for 4 GB variant. The company has already published a notice that phone are going to get expensive due to new rules of government.
Redmi S2 is a new gen smartphone with 5.99” IPS LCD screen which has 720×1440 screen resolution. Xiaomi is pushing this racer with Snapdragon 625 chipset and 4 GB RAM. It has 2 GHz Octa core processor and Adreno 506 GPU. There is a 3 GB RAM variant also in the lineup. The 4 GB RAM model comes with 64 GB storage and 3 GB one comes with 32 GB storage.
At the back there is dual camera provision where one is 12 MP f/2.2 and next is 5 MP. The rear camera setup has gyro-EIS for stabilization. Also at the center of back cover there is fingerprint scanner. Underneath it holds a 3080 mAh battery. However the front camera is 16 MP sensor with HDR capability. It shows that company is emphasizing on selfie more. Both back and front camera can only record maximum at 1080p resolution
Redmi S2 is a dual SIM phone with and can also support memory card up to 256 GB. It is currently running on Android 8.1 Oreo and MIUI 9.5. It has native H.265 playback support, gyrosensor, compass and all basic hardware. Xiaomi Redmi S2 is running a good system for mid range but the thing is pricing and competition.
Xiaomi actually has better phones in their family which are more balanced. For example Mi A1 is still the best phone for upper budget range and lower mid range market. In this price range Note 5 AI is also a good option with at a bit higher price. The Note 5 AI has a bit good features, bigger battery and better screen.
Filling the price gap is a good thing but not everyone is best value product. So for people looking for smartphone under Rs 30000 in Xiaomi, we suggest Note 5 AI and for lower we still suggest the Mi A1. Many reports have indicated that phones price can up to twenty five percent in Nepal due to tax law. Xiaomi is also a victim of this and lets see how far the aftermath goes.
