Computex 2019 in Taipei has a lot to show to the people. There have been lots of announcements from different companies. MSI is also making some big news with its new line of laptops. These are new G series notebooks. The company launched two new very powerful gaming laptops with cutting edge hardware and design. They are MSI GE65 Raider and MSI GT76 Titan. The GT76 Titan is a flagship-level notebook with Core i9 9900k desktop processor and 4K display. These are amazing laptops with high-end specs.
Mobile computing has come a lot way. We can now get extremely powerful laptops for work or gaming. And MSI is a world leader in this sector. MSI Laptops are known for high-end powerful hardware and study design. People love the build and quality of Micro-Star International’s products. This time in Computex, mobile computers are the main attractions. MSI announced new laptops with 9th Gen Intel processors and devices like GT76 Titan. Then there are new RTX Studio Laptops which will have RTX Quadro cards in a very slim profile. MSI is also going to launch RTX Studio laptops.
Things are looking very good. Both GT76 Titan and GE65 Raider have Core i9. They both are powerful but they have their subtle differences. MSI has manufactured great notebooks using the Intel chip. And the use of a desktop CPU in the Titan shows the forwardness. As AMD is also going to launch new chips with Zen 2 Architecture and Navi, we believe we will see even better notebooks in 2019.

General Overview
These are very powerful laptops. We can see that these are using 9th generation Intel processors. These have 8 core and 16 threads with 16 MB L3 Cache. This is a serious amount of power. MSI has done some changes to thermal designs. These help to make that CPU run cooler. In the case of Core i9 9900K, there are some radical changes in cooling and motherboard. The GT76 Titan uses a desktop package and socket. It means that users can change the processor in future. However, we don’t see Intel bringing new and better CPU in this chipset and socket.
Both of these new computers are using Nvidia’s latest RTX graphics cards that have ray tracing. These are very powerful cards in terms of performance. They can outrank their predecessor by marks in normal rendering, gaming, and mostly ray tracing works. It is great to see that MSI GE65 Raider has a very high refresh rate screen. 240 Hz is insane and as it is 1080p, it definitely is for gaming. RTX 2070 and 2060 can push more than 100 fps in moderns titles so it can be great.
Power for gaming and work
It is clear that MSI wants its new laptops for work and gaming. If we see in the Titan, they are offering two screen types. One is 17.3″ 4K IPS and another is 17.3″ 1080p 144 Hz. The 1080p 144Hz and 240Hz panels are great for gamers because 4K gaming at higher refresh rate and FPS is still hard but 1080p at 17″ screen are still amazing. Then the 4K IPS screen comes with 100% Adobe RGB coverage which means it is targetted towards graphics editors, video editors, and creators. This seems like a screen for people who want color accuracy in their work.
Both systems have very powerful internals. The GE65 Raider can support up to 64 GB RAM while GT76 Titan can go up to 128 GB RAM. This is a very amount and we can only think of some applications that require such amount of memory. Mostly Solidworks, simulation work, FEM analysis, CAD modeling, and rendering can utilize such amount of RAM. On top of all these, MSI is using changeable 2666 MHz DIMMs.
There is no compromise in I/O and features as well. Both laptops have Killer 1650 Wireless-ax which supports WiFi 6 and DYNAUDIO Speakers. For I/O there are USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C ports, Type-A ports, Mini Display 1.2, SD Card Reader, and RJ45. The Titan also has Thunderbolt port which is another great addition. These are also power-hungry and they require huge adapters. The MSI GE65 Raider with RTX 2060 requires 180W adapter while the model with RTX 2070 needs a 280W adapter.
Prestige RTX Studio Laptop Series
G series is mostly for gamers and creators who don’t care of size but there are some people who need portability more. So in addition to G series MSI has a new Prestige series under the RTX Studio family tree. This is a new lineup of high power workstation-grade notebooks that come with a slim profile. Nvidia announced them with their partners. MSI P75 Creator and P65 Creator are the newly announced models. These are very high power computers with business class looks. They have more business look than gaming models like the G series. But these also have 9th gen Intel chips and RTX graphics cards.
These are very good looking and light. Manufacturers are using full RTX cards, Max-Q versions, and even RTX Quadro cards. They Quadro version is pretty expensive as those are workstation products. However, the normal RTX versions are great for people who want the silent and classic look but also want portable power. These are new devices that ought to challenge Apple’s MacBook Pro in terms of productivity. The Prestige series laptops are thin and lightweight also they don’t give up useful ports.
For normal gamers and power users, G series notebooks pack a lot. Most importantly desktop chips in mobile systems are a big deal. They bring more power and upgradeability. We also liked the fact that there is a new WiFi 6 on new laptops. They have RGB elements, solid keyboard, and screen with thin bezels. All these powerful systems are high end so they will be pretty expensive. But they show the technology in mobile computing and it looks amazing.
