OnePlus is a very popular company among tech lovers and smartphone enthusiasts. Nepali smartphone users are also very interested in OnePlus products. So there was a big demand and to address that, the OnePlus smartphones officially launched a few weeks ago. iHub Pvt. Ltd. of Nepal is working as the official distributor of OnePlus products in Nepal. In the launch meeting, the distributor and retail partners unveiled the OnePlus X. So, this article is regarding the price, specifications, details, and review of the new OP phone.
Officials of iHub Pvt. Ltd., Kaymu, Pashupati Trade Link, and Lokesh Oli who is the director of Oliz Store revealed One Plus X during a blogger’s meet. According to them, the sales of the phone started on Sunday or 15th May 2016. The OnePlus X price in Nepal is Rs 28,000 in the retail market. There is no invite system and the company stated that they will try to sell all products without an invite because they have sufficient stock. Design and Build
OnePlus X is pretty special in terms of the build because it has very unique materials. The phone is made up of glass on the back and front. There is also a special ceramic model with a ceramic back. The ceramic model is made with Zirconia (Zirconium dioxide) that comes from Australia. On the side, the is flat metal rails that are flat and have bevels. On the right side, there is the alert slider.
Similarly, on the left side, there is the volume rocker and power button. At the bottom, there is the USB port and speaker grill. At the backside of the phone, there is company branding, a camera, and an LED flash. It is a compact phone which feels really solid in hand.
Internal Hardware: Processor, Memory, Battery
It is a mid-range device but it has no compromise on the processor. One Plus X uses Snapdragon 801 chipset that has a quad-core processor and Adreno 330 GPU. For memory, there is 3 GB RAM and for storage, there is 16 GB internal space with 128 GB memory card support. For battery, the device is powered by a 2528 mAh battery. The battery life is pretty much reasonable with heavy use because there is a 1080p OLED display.
In the case of the operating system, the current Android is 5.1 but it is upgradable to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The OS is actually called Oxygen OS which is an in-house production of the company. The experience of the Oxygen OS or the UI is near-stock looking Android UI. It attracts many users and personally, I also like it a lot.
For the network and connectivity, the One Plus X also supports both 4G/LTE and 3G SIM cards. For SIM and memory cards, there is a hybrid slot. This means there is one slot where we can either insert an SD card or a SIM card. This is common practice but dedicated slots for all three things are better (2 SIMs+1 SD). As the phone has a glass covering on all sides, the battery is non-removable. It looks like that, it is a new trend because the latest Galaxy A7 (2016) and Galaxy A5 (2016) also have similar glass metal designs.
Display and Camera
The OnePlus X has a 5″ AMOLED screen with a Full HD resolution of 1920×1080. It is crispy, vibrant, bright, and super clean. The screen has a 441 PPI pixel density so the pictures, movies and other content will look absolutely great. It gives a pleasing experience to watch various types of content. The phone also a has Gorilla Glass 3 cover on both sides. However, there is a ceramic variant that has a special ceramic back. On the front of the phone, there are sensors at the top, an earpiece, and a selfie camera.
The front camera is an 8MP and it is a new and cool new addition because most phones don’t have such a powerful front camera. It is obviously clear that the selfies, front photos, video chat, conferencing, and 3G video calls look more excellent than any other phones on the market.
On the backside of the OPX, there is a 13 MP primary camera. It is a common and standard camera but due to software processing, the pictures look great. The low-light photos are also better and the shutter speed is surprisingly fast. This shows that even though the cameras can have the same pixel count but other special features and technologies can make the other camera better. So we can’t judge by numbers or pixels.
Wrap Up
As Pashupati Trade Link is importing the phone, Micromax service centers will act as OnePlus service centers in Nepal. However designated centers are opening soon as well. The phone is available in very limited locations as the company wants to reduce marketing campaign and advertisement costs.
Buying a OnePlus product is always the choice of enthusiasts and the OnePlus X is definitely an outstanding product in this price range. It is a smartphone with 3 GB RAM and currently, at this price point, no other phone gives such specs. There are many perks of this phone but one thing that bugs us is the absence of headphones inside the box.

In the initial review, OnePlus X has a perfect size that fits perfectly in hands, and on top of that, the full HD AMOLED display definitely makes this phone eye candy. There is plenty of power, fast software, and a smooth UI. The cameras are also very good and with standard power. So, if you are a guy who likes power, design, regular updates, heavy customization options, and custom ROM support, then OnePlus X is surely the answer.
