Samsung launched Nepal Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ globally a few weeks ago. Now Samsung Nepal has launched these new flagship phones in Nepal as well. The media launch event was hosted at the Yak and Yeti Hotel in Kathmandu. We also attended the event and got a chance to do hands-on with the devices. For start, the Samsung Galaxy S8 price in Nepal is Rs 88,900 and the Samsung Galaxy S8+ price in Nepal is Rs 98,900.
Samsung has really changed the design of the flagship S series phone. The Galaxy S8 lineup is a radical change from Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. We did see the trend change from Galaxy S6 Edge but this new “Infinite” look is leaps ahead of anything in the market. Samsung has completely removed the bottom navigation, increased the screen real estate, and made the display immersive more than ever. We shall discuss more about the improvements in our full review of Galaxy S8. However, let’s start with the specs of both devices.

Differences between S8 and S8+
Samsung has launched the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus in Nepal. Both have the same name but the price difference is about Rs 10,000 or $100. So what are the differences among these you may ask? Well, to start, the first difference is that the Galaxy S8+ has a bigger screen and bigger battery. That is the only main difference between these phones. By the way, the Chinese models come with higher RAM and higher storage. For all other specifications, everything is the same.
A bigger phone is actually useful for people who want a bigger screen for work, enjoying videos, watching movies, and scrolling the web. On top of that bigger battery also provides longer battery life. So there are some pros to having a big smartphone. It is just like having a normal iPhone vs. iPhone Plus.
Special Features
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have a gorgeous bezel-less dual-edge Infinity Display that looks absolutely stunning. Due to the lack of a bezel or boundary, the Infinity Display and bezel-less design provide 18% more screen real estate. It also creates a smooth, continuous surface devoid of buttons or sharp curves. The actual home button and touch navigation buttons on the front have been removed. Instead, a soft key with a pressure sensor is implanted under the display, which feels like pressing the physical home button. The navigation bar appears on the screen as well for ease of use.
There are new low-light cameras with 1.4-micron pixel sensors and f/1.7 aperture lenses that allow you to snap bright, high-resolution photographs even in low-light situations. The S8 and S8+ are the first Samsung Galaxy smartphones that include front-camera focusing. Furthermore, there is facial recognition technology that works in conjunction with the primary camera. Actually, both phones also have a 2 MP Iris scanner camera that scans the iris for biometrics just like the Galaxy Note 7.
The Galaxy S8 series also has a new personal assistant called Bixby. There is also a dedicated button for Bixby just below volume rockers. Samsung is using larger screens on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ with rounded edges, symmetrical sides, Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and an HDR10 rating that is comfortable even with one-handed operation. The new Exynos processor is also faster and consumes 20% less battery than before.
The stunning Galaxy S8 and S8+ come with new design innovations alongside cutting-edge technology that includes a revolutionary camera, the industry’s first 10nm processor, a cinematic viewing experience with a bezel-less dual-edge Infinity Display, Bixby and robust Phone+ offerings.

Phone+ Ecosystem
Samsung is calling the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ a gateway to the ‘Galaxy of Possibilities’. This is due to Samsung’s ecosystem of devices and software. Samsung has gadgets like Gear VR that allow watching VR videos and playing VR games. There is also a one-handed controller that helps in navigation and motion interaction while using VR content. Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ also connect to the smartwatches like Gear 360 and Galaxy Gear S3.
The phones also allow watching 4K 360-degree videos using Gear VR. There is also a new feature called Samsung DeX that offers a PC-like experience allowing users to have a PC experience and work environment. It means users can use a dock and do work like browsing the web, drafting documents, editing presentations, working on Excel sheets, using apps on big screens, and even watching 4K videos on the big screen.
