Tourists could directly upload, go live and publish without having to wait to go to a hotel or place with an internet connection. Actually, data or the internet is the main thing these days. When travelers have data on the go, they can also see restaurant and place reviews. Then they would go there. It all helps both tourists and the industry in the end.

This project is happening due to a collaboration between Nepal Doorsanchaar Company Limited (NDCL) / Nepal Telecom (NTC) and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). These free SIM cards are special and they also have an ISD call service. Therefore foreigners can directly call their homes, friends, and relatives and get in touch. Many of the old monuments, buildings, and temples in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur were damaged after the earthquake. Right now many sites are renovated and some are still under reconstruction. These places are major attractions of the city area. But the majority of foreigners come to see the natural beauty of Nepal in rural places and mountain climbing. Mt Everest climbing and Annapurna conservation area project (ACAP) hiking are also very popular among tourists.

When I was a kid, a few years ago I went to ACAP, Ghandruk, etc. At that time there was a problem with the mobile network and connectivity. Now almost all those pocket places have network availability. So this scheme will really help the people visiting those areas. Overall this is a really good initiation because now tourists don’t have to face problems and long procedures to get a SIM card.
